Hello Community! 👋

With every new version of SPS Software (like the recent 25.2), we publish detailed Release Notes. Here is a quick guide on how to scan them efficiently and spot what actually impacts your projects.

### 1. Where to find them?

You can find the release summaries pinned in the [Announcements](https://community.opal-rt.com/c/announcements) category here in the community and in the [Official Documentation](https://opal-rt.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/PSPS/pages/1857421334/Release+Notes).

### 2. The Version Numbering

Understanding the numbers helps you navigate updates:

- **Major Releases (e.g., 25.2, 26.1, 26.2):** These align with MATLAB release cycles and typically introduce major updates, new features, and library improvements.
- **Minor Updates (e.g., 25.2.1, 25.2.3):** These typically introduce significant added value, new features, and library updates.
- **Maintenance Updates (e.g., 25.2.0.15):** The last number indicates minor bug fixes or patches.

### 💡 Backward & Forward Compatibility

We want to ensure both backward and forward compatibility for your models.

The worst that could happen when opening a model saved in a newer version (e.g., 26.1) in an older version (e.g., 25.2) is a **“missing link error”** in Simulink, specifically if the newer model uses a block that didn’t exist yet in the old version.
