How Should Previous Releases of RT-Lab Be Shared With Customers

Hi all,

I’m an Opal-RT FAE, and I’d like to start a discussion: Should we utilise this platform to share software resources with customers?

Background

We regularly receive customer requests for legacy RT-Lab versions that are no longer available on our official website.

  • A number of customers prefer to continue using older releases by choice.
  • Many others are required to stick to a specific version due to their software warranty terms.

Right now, all these requests are managed through our support system. However, this process is consistently challenging due to several practical issues:

  • Slow upload and download speeds
  • Access limitations for cloud storage such as OneDrive
  • Lack of clear records for software release dates

Proposal

Would it be viable to use this platform as a channel for sharing RT-Lab installers?

If implemented, FAEs would be able to direct customers straight to a webpage hosting most (if not all) historical official RT-Lab versions for direct download. This would drastically simplify customer support workflows for the whole team.

I’d appreciate everyone’s thoughts on this idea. I’m also open to exploring any alternative solutions to address this ongoing pain point.

Thanks!

Agreed! It would also be helpful to include the release date for each version, so users can determine the last supported version based on the license validity period.
