How to ask effective technical questions here

Need help with a simulation error, a solver crashing, or a modeling challenge?

To get the fastest and most accurate answers from the community and the SPS technical team, please follow this quick guide when posting your question.

:stop_sign: Before you post

  1. Search first: Use the search bar (:magnifying_glass_tilted_left:) at the top right. Your specific error might have been solved recently!
  2. Check the Examples: Have you looked at the File Exchange to see if there is a reference model similar to yours?

:white_check_mark: The “Perfect Question” Template

When creating a new topic, try to include the following information:

1. The Goal
What are you ultimately trying to achieve?

Example: “I am trying to simulate a grid-connected PV array and observe the transient response during a voltage dip.”

2. The Environment
Software versions matter. Please include:

  • SPS Version: (e.g., SPS 25.2)
  • MATLAB Version: (e.g., R2025b)
  • Solver Settings: (e.g., Discrete, 50µs time step)

3. The Problem (Screenshots are King :crown:)
Don’t just say “it doesn’t work”. Show us!

  • Paste a screenshot of the Error Message (the full text from the Diagnostic Viewer).
  • Paste a screenshot of your Circuit Topology (the specific part giving you trouble).

4. What have you tried?
Briefly explain what you have already done to try and fix it.

Example: “I tried reducing the time step and changing the solver, but the oscillation persists.”

Help us help you! The more context you provide, the faster you get back to simulating. :rocket:
