Line Distance Protection with POTT including TestView Project

Overview

A distance protection example with permissive overreach transfer trip logic and an included TestView automation project for repeatable relay testing.

This example brings protection engineering into the starter model set. It demonstrates a 21 MHO distance relay scheme with and without permissive overreach transfer trip, and includes a TestView project for automated testing.

This is a smart community seed because it attracts a different practitioner group than DER and microgrid models do. It also encourages discussion around automated test workflows, relay timing, and line protection schemes.

Key Features

  • Distance relay example with Zone 1 and Zone 2 behavior
  • POTT communication-assisted tripping logic
  • Automation-ready with TestView project
  • Good fit for utility labs and protection test teams

Getting Started

  1. Open Distance_Relay_POTT.ecf from the Protection examples
  2. Run the default fault cases
  3. Compare operating time with POTT disabled and enabled
  4. Use the included TestView setup to automate multiple fault scenarios
